Main|Options|View

The View page allows the user to set options in four groups:

Auto Pilot

When checked, the Auto Pilot automatically shows Questions and Answers.  The display time for each is independently settable in the two edit boxes in this section.  Display of statistics in the status bar is suppressed and the statistics are not incremented.

When operating in this mode, a small Stop sign appears on each Answer dialog.  Clicking on this resets the selection of the Auto Pilot mode and stops the sequence of Q's and A's.  This is particularly handy when operating with the Q and A dialogs maximized!!

Auto Pilot cannot be used when operating in the Frequency Based On History Mode.

Skins

Clicking on the down arrow next to the select box will open a list of all available skins with the current skin highlighted. Clicking on a different skin will immediately 'reskin' the program with the new style. WinFlash installs initially with a selection of 22 skins. Additional skins can be downloaded from our site at

http://www.openwindow.com/pages/skins.htm

If you wish to avoid the computational overhead of the skinning function, simply select 'None'. WinFlash will then use whatever theme is currently set for Windows.

Alignment & Q/A Dialog Control

Windows For Q&A Same Size/Location

Selecting this checkbox causes both the Question and Answer dialog to use the settings of the Question dialog.  Excellent for avoiding the flashing effect caused when the Q&A dialogs are out of alignment. Mutually exclusive with Keep Question Visible When Displaying Answer option. This option defaults to selected.

Keep Question Visible When Displaying Answer

Question dialog remains visible when Answer dialog is displayed. Best on 1024x768 and larger displays. Mutually exclusive with Windows For Q&A Same Size/Location.

Increase FIB Box Height Proportionately To Q Dialog Height

Selecting this checkbox causes the height of the FIB entry boxes to increase/decrease when the Q Dialog is resized.

Center Text Horizontally

Selecting this checkbox causes the text display in both the Question and Answer dialogs to be centered horizontally.

Center Text Vertically

Selecting this checkbox causes the text display in both the Question and Answer dialogs to be centered vertically.

Note: Due to the variability of the algorithm used when the text uses most of the available space in the display, the text will only be vertically centered when there is more than 50% white space remaining in the display.

Do Not Scale Graphics

Selecting this checkbox causes the graphics to be displayed at their original size.  Scroll bars are added to the display window if necessary.  The primary use of this setting is to present graphics of material such as screen-captured equations and other font-based material that suffers from scaling.

Display Questions Only

Selecting this checkbox causes only the Question to be displayed - pressing any answer button results in going on to the next selected Question.

This function can be used in combination with the Answer First, Followed By Question checkbox on the Q&A Modes page to view only Answers, however Multiple Choice and some Fill-In-The-Blank Questions are not reversed.  Scores are not recorded in this mode and the status bar score boxes are blanked.

Questions Only cannot be used when operating in the Frequency Based On History Mode.

Default Text Order for Questions Is Right-to-Left

Selecting this checkbox causes the Questions to be entered with text order default being right-to-left.

Default Text Order for Answers Is Right-to-Left

Selecting this checkbox causes the Answers to be entered with text order default being right-to-left.

Hints, Comments, Tips & Associated Files

Tip: If you are using sounds with your file and you find the sound your system has associated with Hints and Comments to be annoying, you can alter it or turn it off altogether by editing the sound associated with the Asterisk in the System Sounds section of the Control Panel.

Enable Hints

Selecting this checkbox allows the Hints for the Question (if any) to be shown.

Enable Comments

Selecting this checkbox allows the Comments for the Answer (if any) to be shown.

Enable Graphics

Selecting this checkbox allows the associated graphics files to be shown.

Enable Program Tips

Selecting this checkbox enables the "little yellow boxes" to pop up when your mouse rests on one of the controls that has a program tip associated with it.  You may want to deselect this once you've seen all of the tips a few times...

Disable Comment If Answer Is Correct

Selecting this checkbox disables any available comments related to the answer if the question has been answered correctly.  This allows the file creator to use comments under the assumption that the question has been answered incorrectly.

Show Graphic Below For Text-only Questions *

Selecting this checkbox and then browsing for a graphics file will enable WinFlash to display the selected graphic for any Question that doesn't have a 'real' graphic file assigned to it.  This is an easy way to dress up an otherwise-dull text-only file.

Show Graphic Below For Text-only Answers *

Selecting this checkbox and then browsing for a graphics file will enable WinFlash to display the selected graphic for any Answer that doesn't have a 'real' graphic file assigned to it.

* Scholar and Educator Only
