Main|Educator|Export Content
To export the contents of a study file, open the study file you wish to export from and then select Export Content from the Educator menu.
Educator can export to the following file formats:
FlashcardExchange (.txt extension files)
gFlash (.csv extension files)
Graphics For iPod/Other JPG Players
HandyCards For PalmOS v1.x (.hc extension text files)
HandyCards For PPC v5.x/PalmOS v2.x (.hc extension text files)
JTutor For Palm (.jt extension text files)
RTF File - Includes Text Formatting - .rtf
Sound File (.wav or .mp3 extension sound files)
Text File - Excel Export Format (.csv extension text files)
Text File - Two Lines Per Pair (.txt extension text files)
Text File - User-specified Delimiter (.txt extension text files)
Note: The current release does NOT support the export of extended Unicode characters or font effects formatting - except in the RTF File format. Only 'single-wide' characters are supported - the 'bottom' 256 characters in a Unicode font or all of the characters in a regular, 256-character TrueType font. While some ".txt" formats can contain Unicode characters, these are not really "text" files, but rather binary files with a .txt extension. Consider this when constructing your study files if you plan to export them for use in other programs such as HandyCards or gFlash.
With the exception of HandyCards For PPC v5.x/PalmOS v2.x and RTF File, all export is text mode only. Content is exported by constructing the same text content that is used in printing cards or tables or copying Q&A pairs to the clipboard. This allows easily-understood use of the information even though all Q&A pair formats are turned into standard format Q&A pairs on export. See HandyCards Compatibility Guidelines for information about how data is exported in HandyCards .hc format. This topic will also show you how to create study files which can be exported to HandyCards without losing any data.
Graphics For iPod/Other JPG Players exports graphics of the Q and A dialogs of each pair that can be used for review on any device that can display .jpg's. This includes most phones and .mp3 players. See Exporting To Graphic Files for more detailed information.
Sound File format exports the Text-To-Speech reading of the file to either .wav or .mp3 format. The regular Text-To-Speech support must be installed and working before this option can be used successfully. See Exporting To Audio Files for more detailed information on exporting to .mp3 or .wav audio files for use with your iPod or other audio player.
When exporting, you can set the filtering using a similar dialog to the one that is used in creating composite source files (click here for more info on the filter dialog) so that only a subset of the currently open file will be exported. Once these settings are OK'd, you name the output file (you may omit the extension - it will be provided automatically), OK the dialog and the exported file will be produced.
